Cold silence
|
Nothing burns like ice.
I’m in another one of my anti-social moods again. Apart from common courtesies and the customary greetings and replies, the messages I receive rarely go answered – unless it’s absolutely needed or considered rude not to reply. You’d be wasting your pesos if you try to hear from me or ask me how I’m doing. No, I don’t want to talk to anyone. I’d rather brood and be alone. I even intend on (discreetly) avoiding my high school friends and the big events planned by my schoolmates for this Christmas break. And the ill temper – something which all four of us siblings seem to share in varying forms and degrees, yes, but still the very same quicksilver temper – is clawing its way back again.
It never really does get cold here in Surigao. The temperatures drop because of the now daily but still unpredictable rains, but the winds themselves remain warm. They never grow cold.
But I have never been colder. And how it burns.Labels: ragings |

Christian Pick-up Lines
|
Hahaha! Had a nice laugh about this.. I know, some of them are bordering on blasphemy.. but hey, I think that wasn't really the intent.. So I'll let it pass.. Hehe...
1. "Nice bible.." 2. "I would like to pray with you." 3. "You know Jesus? Me too!" 4. "God told me to come talk to you." 5. "I know a church where we could go and talk." 6. "How about a hug, sister?" 7. "Do you need help carrying your Bible? It looks heavy." 8. "Christians don't shake hands, Christians gotta hug!" 9. "Oh, you're cold? Maybe we should read Ecclesiastes 4:11" 10. "Did it hurt when you fell from Heaven?" 11. "What are your plans for tonight? Feel like a bible study?" 12. "I am here for you." 13. "The word says "Give drink to those who are thirsty, and feed the hungry," So...how about dinner?" 14. "You don't have an accountability partner? Me neither." 15. "You want to come over and watch "The 10 Commandments" tonight?" 16. "Is it a sin that you stole my heart?" 17. "Would you happen to know a Christian woman that I could love with all my heart and wait on hand and foot?" 18. "Nice bracelet. 'What would Jesus date? Uh, I mean *do*'" 19. "Do you believe in Divine appointment?" 20. "Have you ever tried praying at a drive in before?" 21. "Excuse me, I believe one of your ribs belongs to me." 22. "My friend told me to come and meet you, he said that you are a really nice person. I think you know him. Jesus, yeah that's his name. 23. "You know they say that you have never really dated, until you have dated a Christian." |

bleeding
|
The once glorious truths have now become stale for me. Like dust and ashes on my tongue. I need to be renewed, refreshed.
Sometimes I wish that the struggle would finally just stop. I'd rather that it end now than that I would dishonor my Lord.
But these things are not for me to determine so. Meanwhile, I desperately cling on... hurting and bleeding from self-inflicted wounds...Labels: the walk |

woodpusher
|
I can't believe it's been three years...
Three long years have passed since I last pushed wooden figures across a checkered board... three years since my last game of chess... Yep, it's been that long.
That's why it was such a refreshing treat to relive the experience again one cold Wednesday night. It made me nostalgic; brought back fond memories of the first 'sport' I learned to play and the only one I ever really had much of a passion for. After all, chess is a highly intellectual game . Let's just say that my mind enjoyed the mental exercise.
To play again was such a delight. My opponents, both younger than me, gave me a hard time. What's with kids these days? They not only get 1.0s in Math17, they're also quite unforgiving when it comes to even the most ordinary mental games. Sheesh. As it turns out, it was a battle of minds. The sharper, the better. Their cold, calculating heads versus my old instincts and rusty moves.
Well, I won, of course. Four straight games and wins, all in all. Perhaps age and experience do matter, after all. Finally, something good about being old. Not to brag though, but make no mistake those guys were definitely not pushovers. They're really quite good. They going to represent our corridor in the Men's chess championship in our dorm's sports fest. Just one win shy of the top spot, in fact.
But I wonder, what if life were just one big chess game? If only every move could be thought out in advance... If only the goals and distinctions were as clear as black and white...If only the pieces all knew their places and functions... If only every pawn, or every piece for that matter, were willing to sacrifice for others... for their King? If only things were so simple...
Hah... If only success came automatically came with age and experience... Sigh, here I go again... Rem ranting on...Labels: rantings |

About Me: Let me tell you what I'm not:
I am not predisposed to bare my guts and soul here in the internet for the whole world to see just for the sake of it. It's just that I like writing, in the free and unstructured way that blogging provides for. I simply want to express what I think and feel. Is that too much to ask? Which leads me to my next point...
I am not invulnerable, in spite of all my attempts to put on a face of cool composure, and desperately wanting I was good enough to fool myself.
In short, I am not really what I seem.
So, would you still take my ramblings seriously?
