lazy afternoons
|
it's one of those afternoons again
when the sun's up, warm and bright,
and the weather's just perfect.
i find myselfwalking underneath the shade
of majestic acacias.
the wind blows, caressing my face
and bringing with itthe scent of newly-mown grass.
the tree tops sway and one by one,
leaves gracefully descendto the street below...
it brings me backto a life i used to lead
when everything was slow and secure
and the future was something to be embraced
and not frantically worried about...
the wind stops...
and the air is still.
those scenes from the past
seem long-gone... time-forgotten...
but every now and then,
lazy afternoons will always remind me
and bring me back...
make me pause and reminisce,
even for just a few stolen, splendid moments.

I am not invulnerable, in spite of all my attempts to put on a face of cool composure, and desperately wanting I was good enough to fool myself.
